Hotpoint washing machine drum springs
One spring broke apparent on washer WMA027P Stopping after Jumping out of kitchen ON FAST SPIN, and myself taking the lid off. Sourced a pair of springs the day after from Ransome and they were delivered in 2 working days as promised. Very easy to fit if you ignore sone of the instructions on Web sites to go through the Front and disassemble the machine. I merely looped a tent guy line round a suitable mounting on the drum and lifted it into position to fit the spring, avoiding the wiring and vacuum pipe on that side of the machine. Repeated on the other side. 15 minute job.
Delivered quickly.
Delivered quickly and is fairly easy to fit though having a second person available helps as the weight of the he drum has to be suppoted whilst the springs are being fitted.
Drum Spring
The part was delivered promptly and fitted perfectly. The washing machine was ready to run within 20 minutes of receiving part.
Easy to fit
Spring broke on washing machine, ordered with Ransom, two days later up and running again...so easy to fit, took longer to take the machine apart.
Good value and does the job
I needed this kit to replace a snapped drum spring in my ageing Hotpoint. I chose Ransom Spares because they were significantly cheaper than some others. The kit comes complete with two springs and two plastic inserts that fit at the drum end. Although only one of the old springs was broken, I decided to replace both in case the other was on its way out, and to keep the old intact spring as an emergency spare. I took the concrete weight off the drum to make the job easier. I also left the old intact spring in place until I had fitted the broken one. A Youtube video suggested that the soap dispenser has to be taken off to replace one of the springs, but fortunately I didn't find this to be necessary. There wasn't enough room to use mole grips so instead I made a loop of clothes line to pull on each spring in turn and slip it over its top bearing, wearing a gardening glove to avoid the line cutting into my hand. The main difficulty was making sure the top bearings don't get dislodged during this process. On the first attempt one did, falling into the machine, and was a pain to retrieve. Watch your fingers when manipulating the springs over their bearings! All works fine now.
