Description

Drain pump filter for clearing water and debris after a washing cycle

The drain pump filter captures lint, tiny fibres, and particles in washing water. During the wash cycle, water passes through the filter, effectively retaining lint and dirt while allowing water to pass through.

What compromises the drain pump filter?

The accumulation of lint and debris clog the filter over time. If the filter is not regularly cleaned or maintained, it becomes obstructed and leads to poor water drainage and washing machine performance.

The filter itself becomes damaged or worn out and results in gaps or tears in the mesh. This can allow larger debris to bypass the filter and cause blockages further downstream in the drain system.

Drain Pump and Filter Body

I brought the drain pump as the one on my Siemens IQ500 washing machine had packed in. I ordered the pump from Ransom Spares and it didn't take long to turn up. I found a video on YouTube that related to a Bosh washing machine that looked similar to my Siemens and I just followed that to disassemble the machine down to the pump. You have to take off the door seal so you will require a handled hook to take the door seal spring off and to refit it. But apart from that its straight forward to get to the pump to remove it and refit. I was in two minds whether to just by the pump on its own for about £10 or buy the pump and the housing for £20. I decided for the latter and I am glad I did as splitting the old pump was a bit of a pain and due to the age of the old housing, the plastic was a bit brittle and I snapped off a lug on the housing. Anyway I found it easy to fit and my washer is working. Excellent service from Ransom Spares as normal and they saved me a lot of money. I hopes this helps someone? Thanks.
