Grease particles produced during cooking are collected and held in cooktop hoods with mesh filters for grease. These filters are often made of numerous layers of thin mesh or metal grids with extremely small holes. 

After becoming stuck, the grease accumulates on the mesh surface, obstructing the ducting and ventilation system.  

Why do you need to replace the grease filter?
