Smeg Ice box door
With a lot of help from Jack at Ransom SparesI was able to identify the correct part for my Smeg refrigerator. The fitting is not obvious and Ransom Stairs were unable to give any assistance or advice on how to remove the damaged door and fit the replacement. The damaged door on a four year old fridge was the door latch hinge made of plastic broke while in normal use. As I could not see any obvious way to remove the hinge without breaking the hard plastic I had to take the precautionary measure of ordering the hinge seat so that I could force the old door out and have the replacement hinge part available as I could not see any way of removing the old door without damaging the hinge. With the door being £44 and the hinge part £18 I thought a total of £62 was rather a lot for a plastic ice box door. In fairness to Ransom Spares I suspect it would have been a lot more expensive if I had to call a service engineer to replace the door

Replacement internal freezer door
Easy to fit and arrived quickly. Price ok as cheaper than AEG direct but still high as AEG have doubled their price in last 2 years. Ransom spares were good but there is a design weakness with this AEG fridge hence my second replacement door since new 5 years ago.

Freezer Compartment Door
The existing door catch had broken so it was necessary to buy a complete door which arrived within 10 days. There were no instructions included (so only 4 stars) however I found one YouTube video, for generic freezer compartment door replacement, which made it clear and the switch from old to new took about 5 minutes. Very pleased thank you Ransomes.
