Solved our washing blues
I guessed at the fault with the machine, took the machine apart, found out it was easy to remove the 12 position switch, ordered this which wasn't a stocked product and took about 10 days to come, fitted the new, and the machine now works correctly. It used to flicker between spins and times and stop mid programme before. So far it's since completed all requested cycles correctly.

My hoover 31006047/dyn8164dx2x/1-80 washes/empties but won’t spin
Hi Wallace, I can confirm this is the correct selector switch for your model, but cannot be sure it will fix your issue. I'd recommend contacting an engineer directly for advice.
