The E18 and F18 Bosch washing machine fault code relates to the water flow in to and out of the washing machine.
Brands the E18 and F18 fault code relate to
The E18 and the F18 error codes are identical and relate to Bosch, Neff, and Siemens washing machines. All three brands are made by Bosch Group and will often use the same parts and components.

Water inlet hoses kinked
This is a really common problem and should be your first check point. What happens, when the washing machine is installed and pushed back into the cabinet the force on the hose/s can bend them. Over time as the rubber hose/s become more supple they can eventually kink which will restrict the water entering the washing machine and cause it to display the E18 or F18 fault code.
Water inlet taps
First you will need to check that the water taps are turned on and that water is in fact flowing. To do this:
- turn the tap to the off position if on
- unscrew the inlet hose from the back of the washing machine
- place the end of the hose in a bucket
- turn the tap back on briefly
If water flows in to the bucket then move on to step 2. If water is not flowing then investigate why and fix.
Water inlet valve faulty
If you can hear/feel a humming from the inlet hose where it attaches to the washing machine at the start of the cycle then it is likely that the water inlet valve is faulty or blocked.

Washing machine will not empty
If your washing machine still has water in the drum when it displays the E18 or F18 error code then it is likely that either the:
- Sump hose is blocked
- Filter is blocked, or
- The pump is faulty
