1. Accessing the heater element
Remove the back panel at the rear of the washing machine.

Using your Phillips screwdriver, remove the screws holding the back panel in place.

Using a wall as support, tilt the machine forward at a 45 degree angle, ensuring it is stable.

Remove the drum belt by pulling it away from the machine, to give you better access to the heater element.

2. Remove old heater element
Before removing any electrical wires, take a photo to reference to later.

Using a small flat head screwdriver, disconnect the electrical wires.

Using a wrench, undo the nut securing the heater element in place.

Using your flat head screwdriver again, pry the heater element away from the plastic tub.

Remove the old heater element and place it to one side.

3. Install new heater element
Before installing the new heater element, give the lip of the tub a clean with a small cloth.

Place the new heater element into the tub, ensuring the small bracket slides between the center of the element to secure it in place.

Remove the thermistor from the old heater element, using a flat head screwdriver to pry the thermistor out.

Fit the thermistor to the new heater element, pushing it down flush to the heater element.

Next, tighten the nut using your wrench.

Re-connect the electrical wires.

Re-fit the drum belt.

Re-fit the back panel, securing it in place with the screws.

And that’s it, your new Indesit washing machine heater element is all set to go!
