Bosch Dishwasher Float Switch

If your Bosch dishwasher is constantly draining, not filling, or showing a flood-related error code such as E15, the float switch is a likely culprit. The float switch is part of the dishwasher's anti-flood protection system — a small white float inside a plastic housing rises if water collects in the base tray and triggers the switch. If the switch fails or sticks, the dishwasher stops working correctly.

1. Remove the Cabinet Door (Integrated Models)

If your Bosch dishwasher is integrated into a kitchen unit, the cabinet door needs to come off first. On this model the door is held on by four T20 Torx screws at the top — the rounded ones, not the flat ones that hold the control panel in place. Undo the four rounded screws and lift the cabinet door away from the dishwasher.

2. Remove the Kick Plate and Access Panel

Pop a pair of work gloves on and undo the two Torx T20 screws that hold the kick plate (also called the access panel) at the base of the dishwasher. Use a flat-head screwdriver to lift the kick plate away.

If your dishwasher has a floor time light, unclip its electrical connector before setting the kick plate aside. Then lift out the foam insulation panel behind the kick plate to expose the base tray.

3. Remove the Old Float Switch

The float switch sits inside a plastic housing that is clipped into a bracket on the dishwasher's base tray. Pull the housing straight out of the bracket to release it. Unclip the wiring from the side of the casing, then open the plastic casing and unclip the electrical connector from the old float switch itself.

4. Fit the New Float Switch into the Casing

Unpackage the new float switch and its plastic casing. Drop the switch into the casing and press firmly until it clicks into place.

Reconnect the electrical wire connector to the new switch, close the casing around it, and loop the wires back around the retaining hooks on the outside of the casing so they sit flush.

5. Refit the Float Switch to the Base Tray

Line the new float switch casing up with the mounting bracket on the dishwasher's base tray. Push it straight down into the bracket until it clicks firmly into place.

The small white float inside the casing will now rise and trigger the switch if water ever collects in the base of the machine — that's how the dishwasher's anti-flood protection works, and the E15 error code is cleared once the switch is free to move again.

6. Refit the Kick Plate and Cabinet Door

Slide the insulation panel back into place, keeping the floor time light wire accessible if your machine has one. Reconnect the light's electrical connector, then refit the kick plate and secure it with the two Torx T20 screws.

If you removed the cabinet door at the start, line it back up with the fixing brackets on the dishwasher and tighten all four Torx T20 screws back in.

And that's it — your new Bosch dishwasher float switch is fitted and the E15 anti-flood error should be cleared. Need more Bosch dishwasher spare parts?
