Bosch Dishwasher Door Hinge Rope String
1. Remove the Side Panel
Unplug the dishwasher from the mains before starting any repair work. To gain access to the door hinge rope string, the side panel needs to be removed.
Start by removing the single Torx T20 screw on the front of the panel. Once the screw is out, lift the side panel away from the machine and place it to one side.
2. Remove the Old Rope String
The door hinge rope string is connected to the door hinge spring towards the bottom of the dishwasher. Before removing any parts, close the dishwasher door to relax the door hinge spring.
Remove the plastic cover over the spring. Then, using a pair of long-nose pliers or your hand, slide the door hinge spring out and lift it up to detach it from the rope string. Remove the door spring cable guide, then pull the old rope string away from the door hinge.
3. Fit the New Rope String
Unpack your new door hinge rope string. Hook the new rope onto the door hinge, making sure the plastic end is the correct way up — the shorter end of the string on show should be pointing towards the front.
Thread the rope string through the cable guide, then attach the cable guide back to the dishwasher. Pull on the rope string to test that it engages correctly with the door hinge.
4. Reconnect the Hinge Spring
Slide the metal tab from the spring down into the plastic end of the rope string. The metal end of the spring can then slot back into the dishwasher as shown — make sure it's firmly in place.
Open and close the door a few times to confirm the hinge, rope string and spring all engage correctly before putting everything back together.
5. Reassemble the Dishwasher
Reattach the plastic cover over the door hinge spring area. Refit the side panel by lining up the two slots at the bottom with the two small plastic tabs on the base of the dishwasher, then pull the panel upwards to click it into position.
Finally, rescrew the front Torx T20 screw back in to secure the side panel.
