How To Replace The Belt On a Lawn Mower

Video transcript:

Hi I'm Lee from Ransom Spares and in this video I'm going to show you how to replace the belt on a Flymo Lawnmower.

First we need to remove the grass box, and next we need to remove the motor cover.  This is held in place by 3 screws - 2 here and 1 on the underside which we get to by turning over the lawnmower.  The screw on the underside is a torx head screw so you'll need a torx head screw driver to remove it.

With access to the underside of the lawnmower we now need to remove the blade and the impeller.  Now we need to remove the 4 screws that are holding the motor and belt unit to the bottom of the lawn mower.  Again a torx head screw driver will be required.  With the lawnmower turned back upright we can now separate the motor and belt unit from the lawnmower.  All we need to do now is undo the 4 screws holding to remove the tension from the belt.  The belt can now be prised off the pully wheel and a new replacement lawnmower belt fitted.

Replacing the new belt is straightforward by placing it on the small motor pulley wheel first and then turning the large pulley wheel until the belt is in situ.  Now we need to tension the belt and re-fit the 4 screws holding the motor in place.

The belt and motor unit can now be fitted back in to the lawnmower.
