How does a grooved oil seal function on a pressure washer?

A grooved oil seal  prevents leakage of oil or other fluids within the machine. It has a flexible rubber or elastomeric material with a grooved design that helps create a tight seal between rotating and stationary components of the pressure washer. 

This type of seal is commonly found in the pump, engine, or gear housing, where rotating shafts or components penetrate the housing.
