This is a genuine door latch for your tumble dryer door that's made of durable plastic. Has a tab to fit in the slot in your door assembly and a hole as a mounting point for screws when you install it.
The door latch secures the tumble dryer door. The cycle won’t start if the door is open.
It can get loose over time, or get damaged accidentally. If you notice your dryer door not locking properly, change your door latch.
