How To Replace The Water Inlet Valve On A Washing Machine

Video Transcript:

Hi, My name is shawn and today I'm going to show you how to replace the water inlet valve on this Candy washer dryer.  Before you start please ensure that the appliance is isolated from the mains.

The first thing we're going to do is remove the lid which is held on by 3 screws at the rear of the machine.  Now that we have the lid off you'll see that the inlet valve has 3 outlets; 1 for the dryer cycle and 2 for the wash cycle.

Next make a careful note of the electrical connections before you remove them with a small screwdriver.

Next we're going to remove the 2 inlet hoses.  Make sure you place a small cloth below the hoses to catch any excess water that is in the hoses when you remove them.

Next I'm going to remove the hose that is connected to the drying section of the washer dryer.

Now we can remove the water inlet valve which is held in place by a lug at the top, bottom and sides.  We need to push the side lug inwards and twist the valve 90 degrees.

We can now replace the faulty valve with a new vavle.  Fit the new valve in to the machine, fit the inlet hoses, re-connect the electrical wires and re-fit the lid.

And that's how to replace the water inlet valve on a washing machine or washer dryer.  Remember all replacement washing machine valves and all washing machine spares can be found on the ransom spares website.  Thanks for watching.
