Hi, my name is shawn and today I'm going to show you how to clean the filter on a Hotpoint washing machine & washer dryer.  Remember, before we start, to isolate the appliance from the mains.

The filter is located behind the bottom panel here.  To remove the panel it has 3 slots.  I'm going to remove the panel using a flat bladed screwdriver.  It's always a good idea to place a towel in front of the filter to catch any excess water that there might be in the washing machine.  Gently unscrew the filter and remove any debis or foreign objects.  Before replacing the filter always give the filter housing a good clean with a damp cloth.

So, there you go that's how to clean the filter on a Hotpoint washing machine.  Filters and all other washing machine spares can be found on the ransom spares website.  Thanks for watching.

Find the correct filter for your washing machine

Video transcript:

Hello my name is Shawn and today I'm going to show you how to clean and replace the filter on a washing machine.

Before we start please make sure that the washing machine is isloated from the mains.

The first thing I'm going to do is tilt the machine back against the wall so I can get access to the pump filter behind the bottom panel.

You'll notice that on the bottom panel there's 3 lugs and with a flat bladed screw driver we need to simply release the lugs to allow removal of the panel exposing the pump filter.

I'm going to put a small towel and water container underneath the machine to catch any excess water that comes out when I open the filter.

Next I'm going to undo the four screws that hold the pump and filter in place, and then twist the pump housing and filter clockwise to release.

We can now carefully undo the pump filter.  As you can see this is what a blocked filter looks like.

After thoroughly cleaning the filter we can replace it.  Next we can replace the screws and the bottom panel.

So, that's how to clean and replace the filter on a washing machine.

Cleaning the filter on a Candy washing machine or washer dryer

Video Transcript:

Hello, my name is Shawn and today i'm going to be showing you how to clean the filter on a Candy washing machine and washer dryer.  Before we start please ensure that your remove the plug from the socket.

The filter on most Candy washing machines and washer dryers is located at the bottom behind a small door.

If we open the door we'll see the filter and drain hose.  The drain hose is designed to remove any excess water that there might be in the machine before your remove the filter.  If you don't remove the excess water then you could end up flooding the floor that the machine stands on!

So with a bowl ready we need to pull out the drain hose and remove the rubber bung and let the water drain out.  Once most of the water is out of the washing machine it's best to let any last drops to drain out on to a towel.

Now we can unscrew the filter; there may be a small amount of water left but not enough to cause any problems.

Once the filter has been removed we need to clean it and also clean the filter housing removing any foreigh objects that might be stuck.

Now we simply need to replace the filter making sure that it is tightened securely and replace the drain hose.

And that's how you replace the filter on a Candy washing machine or washer dryer.

How to clean the filter on a Zanussi Washing Machine

Video Transcript:

Hi, my name is Shawn and i'm going to show you how to replace the filter on your Zanussi washing machine.

Please remember that before you start any DIY repairs you should always isolate the washing machine from the mains.

The filter on a Zanussi washing machine can normally be located below the washing machine door behind a small flap.  If we open up the flap we'll see the filter handle and a small drain hose.  The drain hose is there so that we can remove any water that might still be in the washing machine before we remove the filter otherwise any excess water might flood the floor.

So, grab yourself a container of bowl and place the small drain hose in to it and remove the rubber bung at the end.  As you can see the water will start to drain until the machine is empty.

We can now remove the filter by turning the handle anti-clockwise and gently pulling the filter out of the washing machine.  Quite often there will be lots of debris that needs removing and cleaning from the filter.  This debris will have been affecting the draining and pumping efficiency of the washing machine and in some cases prevent the washing machine from emptying at all.  Once clean the filter can be re-fitted to the washing machine ensuring that it is nice and tight ensuring there will be no leaks when the washing machine is used again.

Remember that replacement filters and all other washing machine spares can be found on the Ransom Spares webiste.  Thank you for watching!
