How To Fit Carbon Brushes On A Henry Vacuum Cleaner Motor

Video Transcript:

Hi, I’m Lee from Ransom Spares and in this video I’m going to show you how to replace the carbon brush’s on a Henry vacuum Cleaner motor.  Now, it’s not possible to identify which motor you’ll have fitted by your Henry model number as there have been several variations of motor fitted to Henry over time.  The only way to know which motor you have fitted is to take the number from the side of the motor and take a look on our website to identify which carbon brushes are going to fit.  Fortunately gaining access to the motor on a Henry Vacuum Cleaner is a straight forward job.

First we need to remove Henry’s Head.  Now we need to undo the 4 screws that connect the motor housing and cable winding and contacts together.

Next we need to remove the 3 screws and remove the motor housing cover.  The motor insulation cover can now be removed along with the motor insulation and the motor rubber seating grommet.  We can now see the Henry vacuum motor number which is DL2 1104T.  With a pair of long nosed pliers remove the 2 wires that are connected to the motor and we can now remove the motor completely from the vacuum cleaner.

So, you can identify the carbon brushes required either from the motor number or by visually matching them up with those on our website.  To remove the carbon brushes remove the wire spade connector that is connect to the brushes and remove the 2 screws holding the carbon brushes in place.

To replace Henry vacuum cleaner carbon brushes simply slot them back on to the motor, tighten the 2 screws that hold them in place and re-connect the wire spade connector.  Next reconnect the 2 wires that were removed earlier and put the motor back in to the motor housing.  Replace the motor insulation, the rubber seating grommet and the insulation cover.  Next replace the motor housing cover and tighten the 3 screws that hold it in place.  Now the motor housing can be re connected to the cable winding and contacts with the 4 screws that we removed earlier.  Henry’s head is now back together and all that’s left is to fit it back on top of Henry and re-fasten the clips.

So there you go, that’s how to replace the carbon brushes on a Henry vacuum cleaner motor.  You can buy all your Henry spare parts and accessories online at Ransom Spares.  Thanks for watching.
