How To Replace a Tumble Dryer Belt

Video transcript:

Hi, I’m Lee from Ransom Spares and in this video I’m going to show you how to replace the belt on your tumble dryer. I’m going to be demonstrating on this Hotpoint condenser dryer but the procedure should be similar no matter what make or model you have.

Always remember to unplug the tumble dryer before carrying out any repairs.

First we need to remove the top panel by removing the 2 screws at the rear. As you can see the belt on this tumble dryer hasn’t actually broken, but if it had then it will have fallen to the bottom of the machine and you wouldn’t be able to see it from the top.

Next we need to remove the 2 screws holding the drum shaft cover in place and then remove the earth strip.

Now we need to remove the drum shaft collar pin and then the collar.

We can now remove the screw securing the side panel.

With the side panel removed we can now fit the new belt. To do this we pass it between the rear panel and the drum and fit it around the motor shaft. Once it is in place we then need to fit the belt between the drum pulleys.

Now we can replace the panels and shaft collar and replace the lid.

So there you go, that’s how to replace the belt on your tumble dryer.

Remember tumble dryer belts and all other tumble dryer spares can be found on the ransom spares website. Thanks for watching.
