The drain pump filter captures lint, tiny fibres, and other particles present in the washing water during the wash cycle. As the water drains from the machine, it passes through this filter, effectively trapping and retaining lint and dirt while allowing water to flow through.

What compromises the drain pump filter?

The accumulation of lint and debris clog the filter over time. If the filter is not regularly cleaned or maintained, it becomes obstructed and leads to poor water drainage and washing machine performance. 

The filter itself becomes damaged or worn out and results in gaps or tears in the mesh. This can allow larger debris to bypass the filter and cause blockages further downstream in the drain system.
