General fitting guidance. The exact steps can vary slightly with the make and model of your washing machine.
Safety: Switch off and unplug at the mains before you start.
This is a genuine replacement door interlock.
Makes sure your washing machine won’t start—or keeps running—unless the door is properly shut. That means no leaks, no mid-cycle surprises, and no accidental openings while the drum’s spinning.
If your washer isn’t starting, stops halfway through, or the door just isn’t clicking into place like it used to, the interlock might be to blame. Swap it out with this replacement part.
Watch our video below on how to fit a new one.
This washing machine door interlock is from Hotpoint. It also fits Ariston, Indesit, and Scholtes models.
Before ordering, please verify that this door lock works for your model using our compatibility checker.
The following DIY repair video should assist you in fitting this part. However the exact procedure may differ depending on your make and model. You may also require RS6656.
Safety Warning - Always unplug from the mains before carrying out any repairs.
Ordered part and turned up when stated, great service and easy to install.
This is a great replacement for a broken door latch. It's easy enough to fit in place and wire up. The trickiest part is attaching the emergency door release rod. I found it was easier if I put the machine on its back and had a helper working from the bottom, whilst I wiggle it from the top.
The part supplied didn’t look quite the same as the original part, but it fitted perfectly and worked just as well.
Great, Slightly different than original and different on the picture, but still fit in and works perfectly.
The shape of the component differed from the original and put some doubt in my mind but it was a perfect fit and worked fine.
