General fitting guidance. The exact steps can vary slightly with the make and model of your washing machine.
Safety: Switch off and unplug at the mains before you start.
A genuine drain pump and filter body housing for your wash cycle’s draining phase. Pumps the water out of the machine through the drainage hose.
The filter body housing holds a filter that catches lint, debris, and foreign objects from the laundry water. Keeps them from clogging or damaging the drain pump.
Easy access to the filter makes regular maintenance and cleaning simple. A clean filter means the washing machine works well without drainage problems.
This drain pump and filter body housing suits Balay, Bosch, Constructa, Koenic, Neff, Siemens, and Viva washing machines.
Before ordering, please verify that this kit works for your model using our compatibility checker.
Our Bosch washing machine showed an E18 fault code, indicating a failure to empty. After draining the machine, the filter trap was checked to ensure there was no blockage preventing the pump from turning. Placing a shallow tray in front of the still open trap to catch any draining water allowed a small quantity of water (about half a litre) to be poured into the drum(inlet) and down the outlet drain hose. It drained freely out of the open filter trap indicating that the likely cause was a failed pump, which substitution confirmed. The price of the new pump including next day delivery, meant that the replacement pump was delivered within 24 hours of ordering. The new pump, was directly interchangeable with the old one so fitting was straightforward. The pump is accessible by removing the front panel (follow the procedure for changing the door boot seal but only the outer seal needs to be released from the front panel). The pump is held in situ by 2 self tapping screws at the front of the pump housing. After re-assembling, a rinse and spin programme was selected to confirm that the water was draining (pump now working normally) and there were no leaks. The old pump was totally done with a very worn bushing on the impeller end allowing a built up of fine silt and other fine particles to enter into the pump drive mechanism. This caused the pump to be very noisy emanating a loud clicking or ticking noise when operating ( the pump noise was louder than the motor drive noise). There were none of the previous sounds when the new pump was fitted. Can’t remember reading any similar reviews but may have suspected the pump beginning to fail earlier, if the noise indication had been recognised as pump noise. Hope this helpful to others.
