What do carbon brushes do in a washing machine?
Carbon brushes are small blocks made of carbon and attached to the motor, making contact with the spinning armature.
As the motor rotates, the carbon brushes give the necessary electrical connection and allow power to be transmitted to various motor components, such as the drum or pump. The brushes also help regulate the electrical current and control the motor's speed and operation.
Why do you replace them?
Carbon brushes need to be replaced when they wear down or become too short. The constant friction and contact with the spinning armature cause the carbon brushes to gradually wear out.
As the brushes wear down, they lose their optimal conductivity and may not make sufficient contact with the armature, leading to reduced motor performance, intermittent operation, or even motor failure.

Great product...a little fiddly to fit
Fitted to a Bosch Classixx 1200 Express - Most of the time is taken to take part everything to get to the brushes. They're then a little bit fiddly to load the spring but plenty of online videos available. Probably a 30 min job in total
