Description
How does the drain pump filter work for the washing machine?
The drain pump filter catches and collects any lint, minute fibres, and other debris that may be in the washing water. The water leaves the washer during the wash cycle and is filtered by the drain pump.
What compromises the drain pump filter?
The accumulation of lint and debris clog the filter over time. If the filter is not regularly cleaned or maintained, it becomes obstructed and leads to poor water drainage and washing machine performance.
The filter itself becomes damaged or worn out and results in gaps or tears in the mesh. This can allow larger debris to bypass the filter and cause blockages further downstream in the drain system.

Easiest fit
At most, I only needed the pump bit (and actually later worked out I had a different problem altogether!). However, this was really easy to fit and worked first time with no leaks (it helped to but maching in its side for easier access - a good idea to secure with transport bolts first). Do not try to get the (much much cheaper) pump only part as the two bits do nit spearate very easily (not for me anyway). Found all sorts of debris in the old pump and the big hose from the drum (do check this). new one works a treat!
