When our Zanussi washing machine started to make screeching noises, I checked the obvious things, but it turned out to be that the coil part of the motor was slipping in the shaft that drives the belt. New motor needed. There were a few 'refurbished' motors available on websites, but I wanted to do this job just once. Ransome Spares have always been good before, so I went for a new motor. It wasn't cheap, but the replacement was an OEM Electrolux motor, so it should last OK. Modern machines have much better access than old ones and, apart from two of the mounting screws being a bit fiddly to reach, the job was done in half an hour. One tip, undo and dismount the old motor before trying to disconnect its electrics. It's easier when dismounted as you can get at the connector. NB: Always pull the mains plug out before doing any work. If the plug's out, you can see it's safe! Thanks again, Ransome Spares.
