Carbon brushes in the motor connect with the rotating armature, transmitting electricity to the drum or pump and regulating the motor's speed and function.
Carbon brushes need to be replaced when they wear down or become too short. The constant friction and contact with the spinning armature gradually wear out the carbon brushes over time.
This wear down gives you reduced motor performance, intermittent operation, or even motor failure.
Watch our video on how to replace a carbon brush.
This carbon brush by AEG is a genuine washing machine replacement part. It also suits Electrolux, Fors, Husqvarna Electrolux, and Matura washing machines. Use our compatibility checker to see if this part fits your model.

Safety Warning - Always unplug from the mains before carrying out any repairs.
These carbon brushes were the exact replacement. Great customer service in identifying the part. Fitting was a bit laboured as the Zanussi back cover was complicated to remove. It will be better if the part was sold in pairs instead of single item as they have to be replaced in pairs. Machine now working perfectly! Thank you.
Ransom Spares were very helpful in finding us the part we needed, parts were despatched quickly and would definitely use them again and recommend.
Perfect! Easy to fit and the washing machine is as good as new. Marvelous!
Direct, no-fuss replacement. It does what it's supposed to, but does require a bit of creativity to install (protip: remove the retaining plastic bit before installing it and hold the brush proper in place with your finger). Beware that you'll need TWO of these.
These brushes are identical to the original parts that they replaced. The only mistake that I made is that I didnt read the note that said that there is only one component per packet. I had order a second brush, plus postage costs, as the motor needed two brushes replaced. Worked perfectly when I started the motor.
