The vacuum cleaner sounded strange and there was a smell of burning! On taking it to bits I discovered that the bottom bearing of the fan motor had broken up, resulting in a badly scored commutator. The replacement motor from Ransomes was an exact replacement and fitted in perfectly. It works well too!
