Error codes are model dependent, so the same brand may have more than one listed.
| Code | Brand | What it means | Confidence |
|---|---|---|---|
| E5 | Bosch | Means a heating circuit fault leaving the dryer cold, or a drainage problem. It is usually caused by a tripped thermal cut-out, a faulty heating element, or a blocked lint filter. | High |
| E6 | Bosch | Means a heating problem where the dryer is failing to heat up. It is usually caused by restricted airflow from a severely clogged lint filter or heat exchanger, or a failed heater element. | High |
| E9 | Bosch | Means a serious heating circuit fault, usually meaning the dryer has overheated. It is usually caused by a failed heating element, a tripped thermal cut-out, or an electronic control board problem. | High |
| E19 | Siemens | Means the unit is taking too long to reach the target temperature. It is usually caused by a faulty heating element, a tripped thermal cut-out, or restricted airflow from blocked lint filters. | High |
| E63 | Siemens | Means there is a serious fault in the heating system, or a communication failure between the control board and the motor or heating unit. It is usually caused by an overheated heating element, a tripped thermostat, or faulty electronics. | High |
| E9 | Siemens | Means there is a serious overheating fault or a failure in the heating circuit. It is usually caused by blocked airflow, a faulty heating element, or a tripped thermal safety thermostat. | High |
| F9 | Siemens | Means there is a fault in the heating system or heating circuit. It is usually caused by a heating element burning out or a tripped thermal cut-out. | High |
| F23 | Whirlpool | Means a heater or thermistor failure where the dryer is overheating or cannot detect its operating temperature, resulting in a shutdown. It is usually caused by a faulty heater, a faulty thermistor, or restricted airflow. | High |
| F3 | Whirlpool | Means a temperature sensing fault or moisture sensor fault where the dryer cannot measure heat or dampness and stops to prevent overheating, shown as F3 E1, F3 E2, or F3 E3. It is usually caused by a faulty NTC thermistor or a faulty moisture sensor. | Medium |
| F4 | Whirlpool | Means a heating circuit fault or a low or no line voltage fault shown as F4E4, resulting in no heat or a failure to start. It is usually caused by a tripped circuit breaker, a faulty thermal fuse, a damaged heating element, or a clogged vent system. | Medium |
| F4E3 | Whirlpool | Means a restricted or low airflow fault that can cause long drying times or overheating. It is usually caused by a clogged lint screen, a blocked vent hose, or crushed vent ducting. | Medium |

General fitting guidance. The exact steps can vary slightly with the make and model of your tumble dryer.
Safety: Switch off and unplug at the mains and let it cool before you start.
High-quality heater element and thermostat.
The heater heats the air in the dryer to maintain the right temperature for drying your clothes. You have the thermostat to check the temperature. If it overheats, it interrupts the electrical circuit and stops the cycle until the temperature is normal again.
When you replace the old heater, the thermostat might be worn out. So this set comes with a new thermostat.
This heater and thermostat set fits Bauknecht, Bosch, Eslabon de lujo, Ignis, Proline, Siemens, V zug, and Whirlpool tumble dryers.
Before ordering, please verify that this part is suitable for your model using our compatibility checker.
Tumble dryer is old and only lightly used. All that was wrong was heating element. Could have purchased a second hand dryer for amount the part cost, but at least this has a new element that will hopefully last. Easy to replace part which arrived quickly.
When my very old Wirlpool drier failed due to the heater I thought I would not be able to get a replacement and have to buy another drier. However I found a replacement heater on Ransom Spares that was cheaper than other suppliers. It arrived quickly and was easy to fit so the drier was soon back in action again.
As always - easy to find the right part on Ransom website and speedily delivered so tumble dryer back in use with minimum delay. Straightforward to fit. Thank you Ransomspares.
Ransom spares offer an outstanding customer service, The part ordered had express delivery and didn't turn up. not only did they refund my delivery charge but also managed to dispatch a replacement by express delivery. Customer service and handling problems next to none. Highly recommend Ransoms to everyone. Will always use them. Kind regards and well done, Mark.
