General fitting guidance. The exact steps can vary slightly with the make and model of your tumble dryer.
Safety: Switch off and unplug at the mains and let it cool before you start.
The heat from the tumble dryer heater components dries the clothing. To regulate the temperature, they combine an electrical resistance device with a thermostat.
When the dryer is turned on, electrical current flows through the heater element. The wire heats up as a result of resistance that the current meets during its passage through the wire. The clothes are then dried by the warm air in the vicinity.
Heating and cooling processes, tension, mineral deposits from hard water, and ageing can cause heater elements to deteriorate over time. The need for heater element replacement is indicated by signs like insufficient heating, prolonged drying times, insufficient heat production, cold spots on clothing or the drum, visibly damaged elements (burn marks, breaks, or corrosion), and a broken thermostat signalling problems with temperature regulation.
This heater element is a genuine Hotpoint tumble dryer replacement part. It also fits Indesit and Swan tumble dryers.
Thanks for the exact replacement of the heating element module for our Hotpoint condensing tumble dryer. We've had a full load of washing to dry go through it, and it now works like a new machine.
