Description
What is the function of a driver and bearing assembly in lawnmowers?
The driver and bearing assembly transmit power from the engine to the cutting blades. It has a driver pulley connected to the engine shaft and a bearing assembly that supports the pulley's rotation.
As the engine runs, the driver pulley rotates and transfers power through the belt to the cutting blades to spin and cut the grass.
Why do you replace it?
Continuous use and exposure to dirt, moisture, and debris cause the bearings to wear out. This wearing out leads to excessive friction, noise, and reduced efficiency of the pulley system.
Damaged or worn driver pulleys can result in belt slippage or even complete failure, which hinders the operation of the cutting blades.

Fixed Vibration
After just a year and a half my Glider 350 became noisy with excessive vibration. Tried a new blade but no different. Noticed significant play in the blade and that I could see the ball bearings which didn't seem correct. Replacement part has fixed this and no ball bearings visible. Just hope it will last a bit longer than 18 months! Hence 4 stars. Fitting is not hard for anyone who is reasonably practical. Screws to remove top cover and bearing assembly are obvious but also need to remove the front roller to get at a plastic clip that holds the front of the cover on. Cost a bit on the high side - £28 (with shipping) to fix a machine that cost £100 - but noticed it is more expensive an another site.
