Does the job, a struggle to fit and seems a bit expensive
There is no doubt that it does the job of replacing the outgoing U/S thermostat - provided you can get it in place! Had the capillary tube been just a couple of cms longer it would have been a cinch installing it. As it was, it was a nightmare and I had to stress it to the absolute limit to get it to fit within the existing configuration. Surprised it wasn't broken in the process. Would strongly advise anyone carrying out a replacement to do a careful side by side comparison to ensure the new item capillary tube has sufficient length to accord with the specified route. Dimensions were critical in my situation. Can’t help feeling the price is somewhat excessive when compared to similar items available for other installations. All said and done, the forty quid outlay has probably extended the life of my donkey’s year old fridge/freezer for a few more moons at least!
Easy To Fit & Saved Me Money
I "inherited" a fridge when I bought a property that varied from below freezing to +11 degrees C. Fitted it myself using a few screwdrivers and some long nose pliers. Took a few few photographs first of the existing connectors on the old thermostat and then just swopped them over one by one - perfect match of pins for the connectors by the way. Hardest part was curving the end of the thermocouple wire so it fit correctly in the mounting on the cold plate at back of fridge. Took about 30 minutes in total. Fridge now works just as it should, I've checked the temperatures and set for the ideal range. This was an old Zanussi (Electrolux) ZRT 6647 - saved me close to £200 compared to buying a replacement fridge.
Frigidaire 5201 Fridge Thermostat
Spot on Ransom - Exact replacement for my fridge - compatability confirmed at time of order. Pin for pin replacement. Unlike competitors suggested replacements, which were said to be "universal", but not the right part for my Frigidaire 5201 fridge !
Easy to fit
This thermostat was the same as the old thermostat. Therefore, easy to fit, disconnecting one wire from old stat, and reconnecting to the terminal on the new stat until each wire had been swapped over. Screwdriver and long nose pliers only tools needed
It's working well
No problems with it. Fitted it myself and it's doing the job just fine. If fitting one of these, remember to note the wire connections (or take a picture) before removing the old one as there's no wiring diagram with it.
Thermostat for Tricity Bendix fridge
Good to know that exactly the right part is still available for my fridge. Easy to fit and worked perfectly and fridge back to normal once fitted. Tried a cheap alternative first which worked but did not control the temperature properly. It pays to spend a little more on the correct spare !
