Trying to work out how to fit this nearly drove me nuts. I couldn't find anything anywhere on how to do it - although if you want endless videos of how to remove and clean the water tank you will find many happy hours of content on YouTube. So here are the steps. This is for a Hoover American fridge freezer. 1. Obviously, remove the water tank from inside the fridge. It lifts out, at a slight forward diagonal angle. 2. Ease off the plastic panel on the front of the fridge. In my case it says 'water dispenser' on it. There are two plastic tabs at the back of this piece, just to either side of the paddle. That is what holds this piece onto the front of the fridge. You need to use both hands at the same time and with your index finger apply a bit of upward pressure at the very back of this piece while you also ease the whole thing forwards. Then it will come out and you will feel like an absolute legend. 3. Take a photo of what you have. It is a simple construction but it must go back in the same sequence and with all the parts facing the same way. That will help when you are putting everything back together. There are 3 bits to pay attention to: a curved rotating plastic piece at the front, the paddle, and a metal tension spring fixed onto the axle of the paddle. 4. Remove the curved plastic rotating piece at the front. You can just work it out by slightly flexing it. Pay attention to which way round it goes. This is the bit that will tilt the nozzle on the water tank to make the water come out when everything is fixed. 5. Using a flat screwdriver (or your fingernails), remove the wire bit which looks like something from a clothes peg. Be careful, it is under tension. 6. Remove the broken paddle. You will probably need your flat screwdriver to ease it out. 7. Replace the broken paddle with the spare part here. 8. Ease the wire tension thing back into place. It sits inside a groove on the right hand side so make sure it is snug in there. 9. Put the curved plastic part at the front of the assembly back into position. 10. You are done! Ease the whole thing back onto the front of the fridge. Replace the water tank. If it leaks immediately you have put the curved plastic piece on the wrong way round (as I did first time) If this helps, I would love to hear from you to know at least one other person has read this and not been driven mad by this task. [email protected]
