General fitting guidance. The exact steps can vary slightly with the make and model of your dishwasher.
Safety: Switch off and unplug at the mains before you start.
The detergent tablet dispenser in your dishwasher holds and releases detergent tablets during the cleaning cycle. It opens at the right time, letting water dissolve the tablet and spread the detergent evenly.
Frequent use and exposure to water, heat, and detergent chemicals cause the dispenser's moving parts to wear out or become corroded over time and affect its performance.
Improper loading of large or oversized items in the dishwasher can put pressure on the dispenser, leading to breakage or misalignment. Accidental impacts or rough handling during maintenance or repairs also damage the detergent tablet dispenser.
This tablet detergent dispenser fits Ariston, Hotpoint, Indesit, Kitchenaid, Whirlpool dishwashers. Use our compatibility checker to see if this part fits your model.
This is a one to one replacement for my Hotpoint dish washer but it's not easy to fit. This isn't the fault of the part or its seller, I hasten to add, its down to Hotpoint's design, which is all about minimal manufacturing costs over maintainability. I would recommend setting plenty of time aside for this repair because it comes with some frustration. I had to butcher the polystyrene insulation inside the door to get access to the dispenser. It's stuck down with an adhesive that's stronger than the polystyrene. Taking the old dispenser out was a breeze but installing the new old wasn't. It's held in by "clips" that are just the door panel bent inwards (very sharp!). I couldn't get the new dispenser to go in with the provided gasket (too thick) - so I had the keep using the old one, which fortunately is in reasonable condition. The solenoid had stopped working on the old dispenser but the new one works so, frustrations with the installation aside, I'm very happy to have saved £400+ by being able to accomplish a repair rather than a replacement.
