Inconsistent oven temperatures? Take a look at your thermostat. It’s the part of the oven that regulates and sustains your desired oven cooking temperature.
It adjusts the heating elements when you want to bake, roast, or broil your food in the oven. Gives precise cooking temperature to prevent overcooking or undercooking.
Also keeps the oven from overheating so there’s less risk of fire and other cooking accidents.
This oven thermostat is from Hotpoint. Also fits Ariston, Cannon, Export, Indesit, and Whirlpool cookers and hobs.

Old thermostat played up so I got this one. works well.
The swap over to the new one was quite easy. Any time we undid something from the old thermostat we replaced it with the new one. Inserted it into the connector for the knob, clipped the wires back on the new thermostat, placed the coil underneath the wires, looped it around the hooks, lead it down to the hole and into the back of the oven where we then clipped it into place. 40mins after the delivery the oven's thermostat was back working again! Done! Such a great price too!
I purchased this thermostat for our oven. The quality of the item is very good. From start to finish it took me just over an hour and a half to fit and found the job easy to do taking photos of the wires on the connections on the old thermostat before removing them to fit the new thermostat to ensure that I fitted them back on to the correct terminals. Cooker now working as it should.
Delivery was quick and the part was straight forward to fit

My main oven (hot point double oven), is not getting hot. The light and fan work but the oven is cold, top oven works. Do you think I need a thermostat or element?
Hi Jane, if the oven isn't heating up at all, it's most likely to be the element, however if it's heating up but not regulating it's most likely to be the thermostat.
My Indesit main oven is not reaching required temperature. It only reaches 100 and doesn’t go as high as 220 or max. The fan works okay so I wondered if a new element is needed.
Hi James, if the element is heating up, but not reaching the temperature it's set to, this is most likely to be a faulty thermostat.
Is this part easily replaced without an engineer
Hi Maureen, we have a page and and video showing how to replace an oven thermostat. I'd recommend watching this to give you an idea of the work you would need to undertake.
