This genuine micro switch for your oven door.
It makes sure your oven only starts and heats up when the door is closed nice and tight. This helps keep you safe from accidental burns and stops your oven from wasting energy by letting heat escape.
If your oven is being a bit stubborn and not heating up, refusing to start, or even stopping unexpectedly in the middle of baking, this little microswitch could be the reason. Over time, these parts can get worn out. Swap it out with this replacement.
This oven door micro switch is from Hotpoint. Also fits Ariston, Cannon, Creda, Export, Indesit, Jackson, Whirlpool, and Wrighton cookers and hobs.

The switch allows the oven to work once the door is closed, a relatively simple job once you get to it. Part works well, decent value and quick delivery.. All good.
With Christmas fast approaching both the main oven fan and the element were not working in spite of the panel indicator lighting up. Having checked the element and fan I initially changed the control/thermostat but that didn't solve the problem. Changing the door switch worked a treat and only took about 10-15 mins. The main issue being the removal of several panels. Part arrived quickly and worked perfectly. Brilliant service, 5 stars all the way !
It's a genuine Hotpoint spare, so good value compared to other suppliers with speedy delivery. It takes a little while to fit since screws from rear, side and front panels have to be removed together with cooker control knobs (video on YouTube). Now works perfectly having restored switching to the oven fan and element by replacing a burnt out switch. For diagnostic purposes, if the switch is faulty, the element still conducts, fan doesn't operate, oven light works and red oven control light works showing thermostat OK. Fitting straight forward for competent DIYer.
Door switch failed on my 15 year old Cannon Cooker 5 days before Christmas. Found a replacement switch easily and ordered the part for 24 hour delivery. Came next day, fitted easily, hey presto cooker fully working again. £500 saved in not having to buy a new cooker this year at least! Many thanks Ransom Spares.
The switch was indistinguishable from the original part on a Hotpoint free standing oven/grill. To access the switch was fairly straightforward. The cooker was pulled out from under the worktop, the top cover removed and back cover loosened to release and remove the relevant side panel. The switch was visible without further dismantling of the oven and required the removal of two screws and two wires to remove. The switch has 3 terminals so make sure you take a photo before removing the wires. Installation was simple - tighten the two retaining screws, attach the wires to the coreect connectors and replace all the panels. The whole job diidn't take longer than 15 minutes.
How do I replace this switch?
Hi Alison, I'm afraid we aren't supplied with fitting instructions. I'd recommend contacting the manufacturers or an engineer to see this they can offer any advice.
