Christmas was saved !

With Christmas fast approaching both the main oven fan and the element were not working in spite of the panel indicator lighting up. Having checked the element and fan I initially changed the control/thermostat but that didn't solve the problem. Changing the door switch worked a treat and only took about 10-15 mins. The main issue being the removal of several panels. Part arrived quickly and worked perfectly. Brilliant service, 5 stars all the way !

Good value product

It's a genuine Hotpoint spare, so good value compared to other suppliers with speedy delivery. It takes a little while to fit since screws from rear, side and front panels have to be removed together with cooker control knobs (video on YouTube). Now works perfectly having restored switching to the oven fan and element by replacing a burnt out switch. For diagnostic purposes, if the switch is faulty, the element still conducts, fan doesn't operate, oven light works and red oven control light works showing thermostat OK. Fitting straight forward for competent DIYer.

Easy to Fit.

Door switch failed on my 15 year old Cannon Cooker 5 days before Christmas. Found a replacement switch easily and ordered the part for 24 hour delivery. Came next day, fitted easily, hey presto cooker fully working again. £500 saved in not having to buy a new cooker this year at least! Many thanks Ransom Spares.

Straightforward job

The switch was indistinguishable from the original part on a Hotpoint free standing oven/grill. To access the switch was fairly straightforward. The cooker was pulled out from under the worktop, the top cover removed and back cover loosened to release and remove the relevant side panel. The switch was visible without further dismantling of the oven and required the removal of two screws and two wires to remove. The switch has 3 terminals so make sure you take a photo before removing the wires. Installation was simple - tighten the two retaining screws, attach the wires to the coreect connectors and replace all the panels. The whole job diidn't take longer than 15 minutes.

HOTPOINT OVEN OVEN DOOR MICRO SWITCH

Item exactly like OEM. Looks/feels good quality and works! No fitting instructions found online so was trial and error fitting to this 20+ year old cooker, of which this model is still being manufactured today!

Excellent Support

Having waited 7 days for a failed "guaranteed" 3-day delivery from another supplier, I called Ransom to confirm their stock. Gentleman could not have been more helpful to ensure I had the right part and it would be delivered the next day. Cooker door switch arrived as promised and was fitted within the hour - cooker up and running again. I wish I had gone to Ransom Spares in the first place.

easy to fit

new switch modular plastic design ,old switch metal open design, fit perfectly using original screws.Had to remove side panel for access and remove some of the screws in top and back panel to help wiggle it off.I put some heat shrink insulation around the wire terminals as the foil backing on fibreglass insulation looked a bit close .make sure to use the same two terminals as original switch as there are three terminals on both switches.

Micro switch

Product was a perfect fit and is easy to fit with two screws once the oven was removed from under the worktop and the top, back and side panels removed from the oven.

Just the job

This is the second of these door safety switches that I have had for my now obsolete Creda oven and despite the name it is used on the main oven door. It is easy to fit with the removal of a trim and two panels as it is held in place by two screws to the chassis and is fed by two wires. Twenty minutes (mostly trying to remember which screws hold what) and it was job done. In both cases the failure mode was that the switch had burned out after around ten years hard use, so be sure to insulate the wire terminals well with tape.

How do I replace this switch?
By Alison - MAIDENHEAD - 09/03/2020
Hi Alison, I'm afraid we aren't supplied with fitting instructions. I'd recommend contacting the manufacturers or an engineer to see this they can offer any advice.
