Description

What is the function of a fan motor in an oven?

The fan motor operates the fan that moves hot air around inside the oven for more dependable and precise cooking. It prevents hot and cold zones.

It delivers the required mechanical force to maintain the rotation of the fan blades and a constant airflow with its proximity to the fan assembly.

How do you know when your oven fan motor needs replacement?

If the fan or motor starts making bad noises such as grinding, rattling, or screeching, replace it. Insufficient hot air circulation results in uneven cooking or lengthy cooking durations even in the right settings.

Is it easy to install?

Yes. See our video tutorial below on how to replace and fit a fan motor.

Great Value

Almost like for like, the only issue I had was that the terminals on the old one where above one another and not side by side like on the new one. I guessed which way round to connect the leads and it worked fine. Would recommend.

Great customer service

Due to some mix-up, I was initially sent the wrong part but once informed the staff at Ransom Spares very quickly sorted this out and sent out the correct part even before the originally supplied part, which I returned, was received by them. I was very impressed with this rapid response. The part itself was very easy to fit and now I have my oven working again. The new fan is so quite compared to the old one that at first I kept having to double-check I'd actually switched the oven on!

Great product and fixed the oven tripping

The fan oven was tripping the house circuit breaker as soon as it was switched on, so I changed the element as it was quite a cheap and easy job, the element was fine, but this didn't fix the tripping. So, I pulled the oven out and pulled the fan wires off, this stopped the breaker tripping. So, I bought this fan and it has cured the problem, it is now a fully functioning fan oven again. It was a very simple job, just note that the nut holding the fan on is a left hand thread, and the fan is held it place by twisting it. One of the 4 legs will have a piece of the oven bent over to stop it accidentally twisting off. Just bend it out of the way and twist the old fan anti clockwise and it comes off easily. Put the new one in, twist it clockwise (this might take a few attempts, but it does work) and bend the metal part back over to keep it securely in place. Easy job. Nice quiet fan. Sensible price.

A bit curate's egg, but that's mainly do with AEG

Replacement fan motor is fine, and working. Despite the motor's survival, the packaging left a lot to be desired. Delivery was fairly fast. It was much less expensive that buying from Electrolux/AEG; and so seems to be good-value-for-money. The Nitty Gritty In our machine, many of the screws for the securing various pieces of metalwork are Torx head. The fan motor does not bolt-in; pads on the fan's bracket are rotated and clipped-in to slots in the chassis. The fan motor is actually locked into place by a piece of thin bent metal, which needs to be released to remove the old motor. The moral of the story is probably that AEG has had its day. Compared to older non-Electrolux AEG cooking appliances, the internal chassis metalwork is shoddier, with some very sharp edges in places (there was blood). Four components have failed in about 10-years, yet in terms of cost AEG appliances are still attracting fairly upmarket prices.
