Lawn Mower Blade Sharpening - How To Video

Video transcript:

Hi I’m lee from Ransom Spares and I’m going to demonstrate how to sharpen a lawnmower blade.  To do this we recommend using a ‘Diamond Sharpening Block’ such as this.  It has 4 grades ranging from course to fine, it comes with a sturdy non-slip base and is not only fantastic for sharpening lawnmower blades but also for other hand and gardening tools.

Let’s look at the lawnmower blade we’re going to sharpen.  As you can see this blade has lost its edge and is showing some signs of damage from small stones etc. whilst mowing.

Obviously in some cases, where significant damage has occurred a new lawnmower blade will be required.

We need to offer up the blade to the sharpening block at approximately 45 degrees and move the blade backwards and forwards.  After only a couple of minutes of sharpening we can see that the edge is now sharp again.  Here’s what the lawnmower blade looked like before ….. and now after!

So, there you go, how to sharpen a lawnmower blade.  Lawnmower blade sharpening blocks, and lawnmower blades can be found on the Ransom Spares website.  Thanks for watching!
