How To Replace A Tumble Dryer Heater Element - Indesit

1. Access the heater element

Firstly, using your Phillips screwdriver remove the screws at the rear of the tumble dryer.

Remove the lid and place to one side.

Remove lid

Using a wall as support, tilt the dryer back at a 45 degree angle to access the plinth at the bottom of the machine.

Using your flat head screwdriver to release the plinth, insert it into the 3 slots to lever it down then place it to one side.

Next, remove the right hand side panel.

With your Phillips screwdriver, remove the two screws at the front of the machine and the screw underneath the machine.

Stand the dryer upright and remove the four Phillips screws at the rear of the machine.

Remove the screw at the top of the machine.

Remove top screw

Then remove the final screw inside the machine.

Release the right-hand side panel and place it to one side.

2. Remove old heater element

Before removing any electrical wires, take a photo to reference to later.

Take note of electrical wires

Using your pliers, cut the cable tie holding the electrical wires together.

Then disconnect the electrical wires from the electrical block.

Using your Phillips screwdriver remove the two screws at the rear of the machine holding the heat shield in place.

Remove screws to release heat shield

Remove the heat shield and place it to one side.

Next, remove the two Phillips screws holding the strengthening bar in place.

Remove the bar and place it to one side.

Remove strengthening bar

Remove the Phillips screws around the outside of the heater cover.

Remove the heater cover, pulling the electric leads through the hole.

Lean the heater cover against the machine, remove the final two screws releasing the heater element from the cover.

Using your pliers pull the clip out to release the electric wires from the heater cover.

3. Install new heater element

Line up your new heater element with the two screw holes on the heater cover.

Using your Phillips screwdriver, re-attach the new element to the heater cover.

Re-fit the clip to secure the electric wires to the heater cover.

Feed the electrical wires back through the hole at the rear of the tumble dryer and line up the heater cover with the screw holes on the machine.

Re-attach the heather cover to the tumble dryer.

Re-fit the strengthening bar.

Re-attach the heat shield.

Re-attach heat shield

Re-connect the electrical wires, referring to the photo from earlier if required.

4. Reassemble tumble dryer

Re-fit the right hand side panel, securing all the screws back in place.

Clip the plinth back in place.

Re-attach the lid and re-screw the screws back in place.

And that’s it, your new Indesit heater element is all set to go!
