Fridge and Freezer Thermostat Centre Post
1. Remove the thermostat housing
To make accessing the thermostat housing easier, remove any items and the shelves.
Remove temperature control knob
Pull the temperature control knob towards the inside of the fridge to remove it.
Remove the nut
The nut can be removed with the 14mm socket, or a pair of long nose pliers to loosen it and then unscrew.
Remove the screw
With your Phillips screwdriver, unscrew the long screw holding the thermostat housing in place.
2. Remove wire connectors
Before removing any wires, take a photo of the existing wiring layout. The earth wire may need removing with the long nose pliers.
3. Remove old thermostat
You can now gently slide the existing capillary out of the fridge freezer.
4. Install new thermostat
With your new thermostat, carefully insert the capillary into the hole until you feel some resistance.
Re-connect wiring
Using the photo you took earlier as a reference if needed. The earth, green and yellow wire, connects to the single bottom connecter.
With the remaining three connectors that are in a line, connect the double brown at the bottom, the single brown in the middle and then the double black at the top.
5. Re-attach thermostat housing
Now put the thermostat housing back in place. To make this easier, firstly thread the metal piece (circled orange) from the thermostat through to the other side of the thermostat housing. Then, re-screw the nut back on.
Slide and connect the thermostat housing to the side of the fridge freezer. Then line up the hole and re-screw the long screw back in.
Re-attach temperature control knob
Whilst turning the control knob, push it towards the temperature unit. It will then slot into place.
Then, re-install the shelves and any items you removed.
And that’s it, your new thermostat centre post is all set to go!
