A clamping ring in a washing machine secures the tub or drum assembly in place. It’s at the top of the outer tub and holds the inner drum securely during the wash and spin cycles. 

The clamping ring ensures proper alignment and prevents excessive movement or vibration of the drum during operation.

A clamping ring can get damaged due to overloading the washing machine which puts excessive strain on the ring. Rough handling or impact during transportation or installation can also lead to damage.
