How does a tumble dryer capacitor work?
The capacitor releases its stored energy when the tumble dryer's motor is turned on, creating a rush of power. This additional power aids in getting the motor going by overcoming its initial resistance and inertia.
Once the motor has started, the capacitor keeps supplying a steady power source to ensure smooth performance.
What damages the capacitor?
A dryer capacitor has a finite lifespan, just like any other electronic component. It might endure normal wear and tear over time, which could cause a deterioration in function and lead to failure.
The capacitor may overheat due to excessive heat created inside the dryer from continuous use, inadequate ventilation, or defective parts. High temperatures can cause the dielectric material to deteriorate, which can cause the capacitor to break down or lose capacitance.

Tumble Dryer repair
Many thanks Ransomspares, there advice and supply of these Capacitors saved me around £600 as i was going to be purchasing a new tumble dryer. A throw away society goes against the grain with me. Ransomespares and there stock could potentially save an absolute fortune in renewable items instead of repair. Thank you, be seeing you again im sure.

Good product, arrived quickly
The tumble dryer had started being reluctant to start and after watching the video I concluded I needed a new capacitor. This arrived promptly, although I didn't fit it immediately as the dryer appeared to be working for a week or so, but then started misbehaving again. Thanks to the video I was able to get at the part, but whoever designed the machine in the first place obviously didn't have ease of replacing the capacitor at the top of their agenda, for you have to take a fair bit of the machine (Hotpoint) to bits to get at it. One video suggested taking the drum out as well to get at the capacitor, but I was reluctant do this and after a bit of fiddling about, guided by feel rather than sight, I was able to replace the part which had two spades rather than four, but the video indicated this was not a problem. Putting it all back together, the machine started perfectly and has continued to do so. So a cheap but rather fiddly repair, but accomplished thanks to the useful video.

Exactly what I needed
Part came as ordered, on time and worked perfectly. Very easy to fit (except for taking apart the Hoover dryer which was a pain but entirely Hoover's designer's fault!). I was happy to save a small fortune fixing the dryer myself.

Worked a treat, fixed the issue
I saved myself a small fortune in call out fees or the cost of a new machine. Happy days. The part came as pictured and was easy to fix to my Hoover tumble dryer. I had some issues with delivery (nature of the times) and ransom spares were very helpful and resent the part via Royal Mail. Thank you, a very happy customer.

Capacitor
So I googled what was wrong with my tumble dryer and it mentioned the capacitor. So I purchased the capacitor from ransom spares which arrived swiftly. It wasn't the easiest to fit as I had to take the tumble dryer apart. But old part out new one in and tumble dryer works amazingly. I advise getting new rollers if your going to change the capacitor mine now squeak from time to time. That will be the next purchase. Thank you

Just what our dryer needed.
Our dryer would not turn when switched on. I had to spin the drum a few times to get t going. Swapped out the Capacitor, and hey presto its like a new dryer! However it its tricky to swap out to due to its position and you have to careful, as the capacitor will hold charge and needs to be carefully removed and discharged to prevent an accidental electric shock.

Product is as described. Works well simple to fit it was just a bit of a pain to take apart the whole tumble dryer to get to where you need to go. Everything works again

Could you tell me if this capacitor is a genuine Ducati one as pictured, please?
I'm struggling to find an exact match to the one for my Candy tumble dryer which is almost identical to the one you have pictures apart from on the side of the one you have pictures it's printed W06/18 and mine is W27/16.
Not sure if this makes a difference or not?
