Description

If you find that your Flymo lawnmower is creating radio interference a faulty capacitor can be the cause behind it. A capacitor in a lawnmower switch works as a suppressor to reduce the interference.  The capacitor offered at Ransom Spares is designed to work with select models of Flymo lawnmowers.

How to replace the capacitor on a Flymo Lawnmower

Please note that the following video will give you a guide on how to fit this part, however the exact fitting may differ depending on your make and model.

WarningSafety Warining - Always unplug from the mains before carrying out any repairs.

Easy push fit into switch

Great - just push the legs into the new switch I'd bought to replace a broken one and it all works perfectly. It made sense to replace this capacitor when replacing the switch. It's great your able to buy the individual parts for Flymo mowers so you can easily and cheaply fix the bit that's broken with the help from Ransom's!

Does the job

Bought this to go with the replacement switch for a Flymo - all works fine, so a whole lot cheaper than buying a new lawnmower! Really easy to install.

Guaranteed to do the job but expensive for what it is

Official parts are always guaranteed to do the job but for someone like me who knows what a capacitor is and roughly what to look for, I found many similar alternatives for a fraction of the price. I could not be completely sure however and it wasn't my mower so I didn't want to risk damaging the circuitry so went with it in the end. For what it is, it is expensive and could easily be sold cheaper.

Questions And Answers

1 Answer(s)
My Flymo works but does not have the same power it used to and easily comes to a hault in difficult grass areas and does not cut as effectively as it once used to. Th full power is just not spinning at full capacity- I wondered if the capacitor or switch was to blame for this problem.
By matt - birmingham - 08/04/2020
Hi Matt, the capacitor is used to start the motor, so once it's running I can't imaging it would have any effect. I'm afraid we can't diagnose faults, so I'd recommend contacting an engineer or the manufacturers directly to see if they're able to offer any advice as to what part you require.

If the capasitor has blown will it stop the mower from working ?
By Steve - Derby - 23/06/2020
Hi Steve, if the capacitor has gone there may not be enough power to start the motor.
