Video transcript:

Welcome to Ransom Spares repair help video.  Today I’m going to show you how to fit universal cooker door seal.  Now, although this is a fantastic product and fits thousands of makes and models it doesn’t fit them all and there are a couple of points that you need to be aware of before purchasing one for your cooker.  Number one, the door seal must fit with clips in each corner and each corner must be square 90 degree angles as opposed to rounded.

As you can see, this door seal has 90 degree angles in each corner and uses a clip and hole fixing method.  As long as your existing cooker door seal clips in each corner and has 90 degree angles then this product will definitely fit your make and model.

Before we move on a fit the door seal there are a couple of things you are going to need; number one is a tape measure, number two a pair of scissors, and number three the universal cooker door seal itself which can be purchased from 'Universal Cooker Door Seal'.

With the tape measure we need to take some measurements from the cooker in preparation.  We need to measure the horizontal distance and the vertical distance between each fixing hole.  Once we’ve done that we need to take off 2cm from each measurement.   This ensures that when the cooker door seal is fitted it is nice and tort.

Moving away from the cooker we need to find a flat surface where you can prepare the universal cooker door seal for fitting.  Lets now take a look what’s inside the packet.  First of all we’ve got the door seal itself, next we’ve got four clips which join the cooker door seal and provides the hook which attaches the door seal to your cooker.  We’ve got some written instructions and we also need in addition a tape measure and some scissors.

Let’s now prepare the door seal now for fitting.  First we need to cut the cooker door seal in to 4 lengths.  The ends of each length are cut square and so then need to be cut so that they are at 45 degree mitre type angles.  Now we can join the universal cooker door seal with the clips provided.  This is straightforward to do as you can see the door seal has a wide opening at the bottom where the clip is inserted.  The same needs to be done on all 4 corners of the cooker door seal and then it is ready for fitting.

Now we can fit the cooker door seal to the oven by simple clipping the universal cooker door seal in to each corner.
